Yes, Virginia, there is a Mac build
Ever since the day we shipped Flex Builder 2.0, Greg Dow, our resident Mac genius, has been resurrecting the Mac version of Flex Builder. Today, the Mac build is finally up and running as part of our internal builds. Woohoo! Check out the screenshots below.

Oh hell yes :) Keep up the good work.
Who do I have to pay off to get a copy of that on labs. I currently use an xml editor and an ant script to compile my flex. I dont need design view but a valid editor and the incremental build? Priceless….
Please helpl me be productive!
i just salivated all over myself. can’t…freaking…wait….
Sweet. Hopefully there’ll be a Labs build by the time I’ve switched over. :)
I can’t wait..
Please make it soon availiable…….
Flex in Virtual PC on my PB G4 is tooo slow!!
Thanks for the shots!
Nice! Great Job Greg! Sho, I’ll be looking for the Labs announcement on your blog.
That just brings a tear to my eye… If I could hug you guys I would.
Any news on whether this is or will be a universal binary?
Woot! :) Thanks for sharing Sho - I am unlucky enough to have the last PPC Powerbook, and running FlexBuilder under Virtual PC is painful. :)
Will this be available on Labs, or will we have to wait until it’s done?
[...] We knew it was coming eventually, and still is, but at least there’s a new ray of hope coming down from on high, in the form of screenshots of Flex Builder 2 for Mac. [...]
Gimme gimme gimme!
Just wondering if it will work on G4’s though… Hopefully it’s not just a MacTel build…
saweet! keep chargin’ Greg… we all appreciate your efforts! (any idea if this is universal?)
Woo hoo!
So for those of us who bought Flex 2 to run on Parallels-enabled Macs, will we be able to transfer our licenses to the native version?
-MB
Great to see the progress. Looking forward to MAX and maybe having something to play with by then
The sooner you guys can get a beta (or gamma, or delta :) ) up on Adobe Labs, the better!

Hi folks. Great to see all the enthusiasm!
Mark: That’s a good question about licenses. I don’t know if we have worked this out yet, but I will investigate and keep you posted.
Sho (or I guess it’s up to Mark A) - I put in a vote for being able to transfer the license from PC to the new version, I think a lot of Mac users will be in this situation by the time of the release.
Thanks sho!
I love mac, but I love FB 2 even more. why can’t I have both…
Thanks again for the great work you guys are doing. I’m appreciated.
Nice, looking forward to it!
I was really excited when I read this, but I heard this morning *from Adobe* that while they’re aware these screenshots have been released, they’re definitely not planning a mac build! Which is it? I’d be stunned if Adobe didn’t build a mac flexbuilder…
Nice….now if the Flex/Flash on Intel-macs can work properly we’ll be sweet.
Robin: Totally understand about wanting to transfer the licenses. BTW, it is true that Mark A and I used to co-lead the Flex Builder team together, but he is now working on other, related things (in the platform BU).
Toby: I’m surprised you heard that. Seeing as I run the Flex Builder team, I can tell you that we are definitely planning on delivering a mac build.
Andy: We are definitely planning on supporting intel macs.
Thanks for the hard work all; this is fantastic news. I’ve been running FB2 on my Intel iMac under Paralells, and am missing the OSX environment. I can’t wait to get my hands on FB2 for Mac. Keep up the great work; the credit card’s at the ready!
[...] So my boss, Sho, finally put up screen shots of the Mac version. I’ve been using my new MacBookPro for all bug fixes and feature work and except for design view, I think the Mac version is as fast and as stable as the Windows version. Look for it soon. [...]
[...] Our engineers are furiously working away on a Mac version, and Sho posted the screenshots to prove it. I know that a lot of our users are anxious for us to get this out as soon as possible, and we are working on it. [...]
Hey Sho, I affirm the desire to transfer licenses. I already purchased FB 2 and am currently running inside of Parallels, but definately want to get the hell out of that world as soon as I can. :)
This is the best news I have heard in such a long time, thank you`-`
I could hug you guys`-`
Yeah - second the “hugs”
AND the anticipation. Typing into a text editor and compiling with mxmlc works and IS free, but the experience is, uh, diminished.
:)
I will say that Aral’s “Quick Starts” are extremely valuable to a guy like me. Well done..
Anxiously waiting for the Mac Builder2!
Very excited. This is just what I need to to get me to move my development over to using Flex. Please remember to create a beautiful dock icon before you release it. Us Mac users a very particular about presentation.
Awesome, I hoped that’s what you’d say :) Keep up the good work!
Cool, you’ve ported it to one ‘nix version, how about Linux :-)
WooooHAaa
Yes! Yes! Yes! Now we just have to be patient…. I hate waiting :-)
Yeah great! A good reason to get a mac…
[...] So what about a company like Adobe? Adobe has always had a long history with Apple, and because a lot of designers choose to work on Macs, Adobe supports them pretty well. It’s also much easier to build on a foundation than to dig one from scratch, so Adobe can make heavy use of its Apple knowledge to build iterations of its software suite and help with new initiatives (like the most recent version of the Flash Player). Adobe’s barrier to entry for the Mac world is very low, and as a result, there are a lot of Adobe apps for the Mac (although the Intel chip was almost like starting over). The fact that we’ll soon see a Flex Builder version for Mac shows that if nothing else, Adobe has placed a heavy emphasis on the platform. With Flash, the goal is ubiquity, and if you can cover Microsoft’s 90%, plus Apples 5%, you’re running at close to 95% with very little extra development work. That number is more than good enough for upper management. [...]
YES!!!!! OH GOD YES!!!!!!
looks great! I have been working in Eclipse using FDT for the past year and I love it.
Oh my, does this mean I will be able to return to my beloved mac and ditch this XP box I have been handed for Flex dev?
Please god let it be so!!!
I had said I just needed onnnnnne more reason to switch to mac ;)
Damnit, now I’ve gotta make good!
help me, help you, help me make better apps on my mac. ; ]
Outstanding work ! Can’t be released soon enough.
Thanks for the update Sho. As a Flex developer and a recent Mac Pro convert [insert Windows joke here], I am ready to make things happen–the sooner the better. :/
Yessss !!!! Can’t wait to see something to download on the labs!!!
Great work
w00t.
YES, I seriously cannot wait until this is released. So, I’ll just stop by.. let’s say 7 tomorrow to pick it up? :D!
Here is an update on the Flex Builder 2 for Mac OSX. It is running *way* faster than on my old PC on the new intel mac. Screenshots are onbline too:

Nice, but are thinking on a Linux Version of Flex Builder 2?, its Eclipse, open source software, and Linux are a open source OS, or, simply build a Linux Eclipse Plugin, its not much work.
—- Sorry my English.
Has anyone out there tried to use wine to get the windows version running on a linux box? Personally, I’m not going back to M$, (all linux/SuSE), and Mac’s are not in my future (just for Flex!!), but putting the windozz ver on using wine…that would be fine!!
Eclipse is the best
